Camino de
Finisterre
Ever since the 9th century, when the tomb of the Apostle Saint James was discovered, the Camino to Fisterra has become a popular route for pilgrims.
The perfect route to experience the Camino in just a few days
Since the 9th century, when the tomb of the Apostle Saint James was discovered, the Way to Fisterra has become a popular route for pilgrims. In ancient times, people made the pilgrimage to Finisterre, known as the End of the World, drawn by the sight of the sun disappearing into the ocean. Today, many pilgrims continue their journey from Santiago de Compostela to Cape Fisterra, a place historically considered the end of the world.

Six-day journey
This route is a complement to the Jacobean Route and starts directly from Santiago towards Fisterra. It is common for pilgrims to walk it after completing other Camino de Santiago routes, although some do it in reverse. The route is well-marked throughout its length.

The popularity of this experience continues to grow, and in recognition, the Fisterra Town Council issues the "Fisterrana," a certificate awarded upon presentation of a credential with the corresponding stamps. However, it is important to remember that this certificate is not official.
You begin your adventure in Santiago de Compostela, home to the Camino spirit of thousands upon thousands of pilgrims. ‘Buen Camino’ is not a farewell, but the start of a new chapter in your journey
We leave Santiago. Behind us lie Praza do Obradoiro and the imposing cathedral. We walk towards Negreira. This first stage offers easy, comfortable scenery. The only notable stretch is the climb up Mar de Ovellas. We cross the River Tambre at Ponte Maceira and arrive in Negreira.
A demanding stage in terms of distance, but one rewarded with breathtaking scenery. On this day we leave the urban, paved world completely behind to enter imposing oak and chestnut forests. There are climbs to tackle, such as Monte Aro, but from the top there is a fantastic view of the Fervenza reservoir, into which the River Xallas flows.
The River Xallas keeps us company on the way to Hospital. A fork in the path marks the way to Muxía for those who wish to take that variant. In our case, however, we follow the direction of Cee. We pass several chapels and stone crosses until we reach Cruceiro da Armada, where we see the sea for the first time. From here a steep descent begins down to today’s destination, Cee.
We start the day heading for Corcubión, a charming fishing village declared a Historic-Artistic Site. The Atlantic accompanies us on this peaceful walk to Cape Fisterra, the destination we have longed for throughout the Camino.
The journey ends in Finisterre, leaving pilgrims with unforgettable memories and the promise of a future “Buen Camino!”
